The Land Transportation Office-9 (LTO-9) has warned vehicle owners to pay their renewal fees on time to avoid paying surcharges.

LTO District Officer Noel Noche said that the monthly surcharge constitutes fifty percent (50%) of  the vehicle’s registration fee.

This is collected from vehicle owners who fail to pay their renewal fees during the month corresponding to the last digit of their vehicle plates.

Noche however said that surcharges also include weekly fees for delinquents who fail to pay one year after their registration date.

The LTO collects a P200 surcharge from four-wheeled vehicle owners and P100 from motorcycle drivers.

Noche advised vehicle owners not to be delinquent to avoid paying hefty surcharges.

Money and time are lost because of the “last two-minutes” and ningas cogon attitude among vehicle owners, Noche said.

Noche also appealed to vehicle owners not to pay minutes before closing hours.

Noche said that there are always delinquent vehicle owners who complain paying the LTO-imposed surcharge, thus the reminder from their office.  (Allen Abastillas)
