TODAY’S MANNA

BY Berlie G. Yap

“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” (Isa. 43:19, ESV)

My colleague and I were to travel to an island in Sibugay. Uhm, it’s a work a thing. I was advised to check the ticketing office pretty early in the morning, because an expected throng might swarm the place. So, I went in an 8AM. To my big surprise, a crowd of people were already there. I even could not get a priority number. My bud did also arrive 5 minutes after me, he too was surprised to see the number of the crowd.

We were in the queue for 30 minutes, and things seemed to be eternity. Then it dawned on me to see one of the ship’s officers. And there I went to ask his help. Because we are friends, he soon assured me beds for our trip. Whew! There’s always a way, even on seeming impossible situations. Two things—God shall help us along, we only will have to call on Him; then we ought not to give-up quickly and surrender our bouts.

Life sometimes may not be fair, such is a given fact. Simply because we live in a competitive and a broken world. Notwithstanding, we can always turn our adversities to become unexpected opportunities and thus lead them to our personal favors. Our science teachers, during High School, would use to tell us that most modern inventions were products of some crises, where the inventors in their times became instrumental for their answers.

Any victory or blessing we may relish can only be that sweet if earlier it has a corresponding challenge. The hardships we meet along are the necessary ingredients which provide the great spices in our personal exploits. God helps us, anytime we call on Him. Mercy is the nature of God. When we come to Him in humility, He responds in signs and wonders. Do you notice, there are those some helps we receive unsuspectedly, and to our little knowledge they are miracles already!

My story I shared to you might not be that huge, but I count it as quite a divine intervention then. Else, my colleague and I might be waiting even beyond the lunch time, before we could buy our tickets because of the crowd. There could be chances also that we could not buy such tickets. It is how we appreciate small graces along which can definitely affect our assessments in life.

We should not give-up right away. The Father wants us to push our way until we can have our own breakthroughs. The weak easily turns his back from the heat of the battle. Indeed, the sign of strength is the man’s formation of his character—it is his tenacity which specially manifests on tough situations. The Lord told us “…men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” (Lk. 18:1, KJV)

There was that widow who was denied of help. She had no other hope but the man whom he asked said help. So, she never left her place and continued on to beg from the man. She didn’t stop to knock the man’s gate, even beyond the midnight time. The Gospel described that the latter was already displeased or disturbed that he eventually went out and swore to give the needed help to the woman. His sole reason was because the woman did not stop to bother him!

The Lord Jesus then concluded His parable by saying that the heartless man helped the needy for the sole reasonof her persistence. Thus, it compelled the unusual benefactor to give-in to her pleas. How much more then with regards to God almighty, WHO is our Good Father! He cannot deny the prayers of His people. “…The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (Js. 5:16, KJV)

The real tough people are not those who can fight in a brawl; they are those who can stay and overcome their difficulties. Show me a man of such characteristic, then I can give you a man of hope and has good success as his sure reward. On the other hand, show me a person who easily gives-up even on ordinary trickles of hardships, and I will give you an untrustworthy individual, who cannot reach any amount of achievements! Others do even call such man as a wimp!

To ladies around, I got you a good piece of advice. When you pick a boyfriend, and much a husband, choose the guy who does not easily throw his towel on difficult situations. Test him too, if he knows how to find his way out; if he can forge any amount of creativity to push himself out from said difficulties.

You may do so because what you will commit onto is not other people’s lives, but your very own life. Thus, you got all the rights under heaven to choose the best. It’s just alright. Anyways, may this little exhortation can give you some thoughts to ponder; it’s the weekend! Build your future with God along. Fortify also your foundations surely so that you can stand, comes any tests of life.

God bless you (Please text for your comments and reactions to 0936-526-8769.)
