TODAY’S MANNA

BY Berlie G. Yap

“For all flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls.” (1 Pet. 1:24, ESV)

Whew! Life is beautiful!Hence, we are to make the most of it every time, because when our day of appointment comes, we cannot bargain anymore with our Creator for an extension—even a minute time only. “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” (Heb. 9:27, ESV) God holds our lives; we owe it from Him so that when He claims it back, we can’t withhold it from His hands.

And the naked fact is: we do not know when shall be our last breath. Consider this story, a woman was overrun by a trailer truck yesterday, and she died. It is safe to say that the never knew that in that fateful split of seconds, she would die. Well, if she knew her last, she would have done all her best to probably kiss, embrace and tell her loved-ones how much she loved them, and vice versa.

Here’s another analogy: we’ve a church member, who came home for a vacation, from Canada. We’ve not seen her for 3 years. Wow, the moments she was with us, our laughter was endless. But she has an itinerary to follow, then came yesterday for her to bid her goodbyes, again. It pricked our hearts to see her leave. You know how the bond which you have developed dearly in years, when inevitable or temporary separation comes, it will always be a bit painful.

In like manner, the daily momentum of our lives is completely in the hands of God. We do not have any participation, whatsoever, with it. Thus, it behooves us to make the most of what little we have. It ain’t wrong to enjoy the blessings or grace which you received from the Father. Sing as much if you have a better voice, dance as much if you can dance better! Albeit, use always your gifts—not to hurt others, and to glorify the Lord.

It is all the time wrong to indulge happiness at the expense of others. Please do not afford to be happy by hurting other people. Remember, any time we harm others we have actually harmed God Himself. In every person’s life exist the image of God, so that if you hurt your equal you also have hurt that God image in Him.

All of us were created in the image and in the likeness of God. In the dawn of time, after God formed man out from the dust, He was very happy to see him which reflected His image. That same image is our spirit. Our capacity to feel pain, our ability to appreciate and be appreciated and etc. are the characteristics of that spirit inside of us.

Do not use your God-given might to destroy others, but rather harness them to be a bridge something to bless other people. If you can do it,
