TICKLE ME PINK

BY Betty Elago

I don’t know if I should be happy that BBL, in place of the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao had been passed by our law making body which is the House of Representatives. I feel frustrated because I feel as if a substate had been created within our beloved country, when in fact, we all consider ourselves as one, Filipinos, united in one flag, and with one President to rule over us. I only hope that since the Muslims had been granted their wish, we shall enjoy the peace we have been hoping for.  They should be able to control their own people, no more terrorist groups to bother us!

We should thank Congressman Celso Lobregat, District 1 representative, who had always been present in all sessions while the BBL laws were being discussed to protect our city. I know he said he wants peace as long as the BBL laws will be fair and acceptable to us Zamboanguenos and at least, Cabatangan will remain as property of Zamboanga, and our people had been assured that Zamboanga City will not be included under BBL.  Properties of the ARMM will all be turned over to Bangsamoro. Cong. Lobregat’s abstention in joining his colleagues in passing BBL  is because there are still other matters that have to be discussed under the Bi-cam, like the SPCD properties. He can’t be a member of Bi-cam if he joined in favour of BBL! By being a member of the Bi-Cam, he can guard and protect the provisions already amended!

It’s sad that there are bashers in the opposition who are criticising him of his abstention! Where were they when Cong. Celso Lobregat was in the forefront fighting for Zamboanga in Congress? I hope his bashers will attend the open forum this afternoon at Garden Orchid Hotel.
