Trump, Kim in Singapore: playing out Biblical prophecies PDF Print E-mail

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…`To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open’…” (Revelation 3:7, the Holy Bible).

TRUMP, KIN IN SINGAPORE: PLAYING OUT BIBLICAL PROPHECIES: I watched the livestream on June 12, 2018 of the meeting between US President Donald Trump and North Korean Chairman Kim Jong Un in Singapore, as well as their signing of an agreement that will “complete the denuclearization” of Kim’s country, and I couldn’t help but immediately remember Biblical verses that say God is going to be “the judge (or arbiter) of all nations” and will be the One who will settle their disputes.

This is what Isaiah 2 says: “He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore…”

Indeed, who would have imagined that Trump and Kim would agree to meet in Singapore and confer on the complete decommissioning of North Korea’s nuclear weapons when, just a few months back, they were locked in a bitter exchange of words, in media yet, precisely on the matter of Kim’s strengthening of his country’s nuclear weapons? It is clear both Trump and Kim, whether they were aware of it or not, were playing out Biblical prophecies in that meeting.

TRUMP-KIM MEETING: WILL OF GOD: If ever the meeting and the signing of the agreement between the US and North Korea last June 12, 2018 took place despite the acrimonious stance of the countries’ leaders virtually just a few days ago, there should be no mistaking the fact that this was due to the will and direction of God, so that His Word would be fulfilled in due time.

Indeed, is not what the Bible is saying in Numbers 23:19 clear enough: “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” Undeniably, the occurrence of the Trump-Kim Singapore meeting was simply a fulfillment of what God said in Isaiah 2—that He Himself would arbitrate among nations to bring about their reconciliation and understanding.

It has been written, when God establishes that something has to be done, there is no one who can prevent that something from happening. On the other hand, when God says that something will not take place, there is no one who can carry out what God did not want to happen (see Revelation 3:7, the Holy Bible).

HOW CAN WE ASK GOD TO POUR ON US HIS BLESSINGS? One question that all of us must then endeavor to explore is this: how can we convince God to act in favor of men? The answer can be taken from many verses of the Bible, but there is also a tip on how to do that in Isaiah 2: “Many peoples will come and say, `Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths’…”

Clearly, the secret is amazingly simple: let us have ourselves instructed by God about His ways, and on how to walk His paths. If the truth be told, this is the same instruction that is given by Deuteronomy 28:1-14 which is the Book of Blessings that God promises to pour down on those who will listen to, and obey, His commands. And we can do this by reading, studying, and obeying, His Bible.

Matthew 7:24-25 contains the same direction, this time from Jesus: those who listen to His Word and does them are like intelligent people who put up their homes on top of a solid foundation. Whatever calamity that may come, that kind of a man would not be crushed or even be hurt one bit, precisely because he is listening to, and obeying, the Word of Jesus, our God and Savior who is God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
