The administration of President Benigno S. Aquino III will be strengthening its program on ‘Public-Private Partnership’ for the year 2012, a senior official said over the weekend.

According to Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Undersecretary Mario Relampagos, the PPP will be one of the priority projects of President Aquino for next year because the Chief Executive sees it as an economic driver in national governance.

Relampagos said the government is committed to the PPP as he urges businessmen to participate in the government-business sector tie-ups.
“The government is bent on fulfilling its part on strategic infrastructure projects. We are committed in following the policy of President Aquino that is ‘Kung walang corrupt, walang mahirap,’” said Relampagos.

“The DBM is set next year to release P14 billion for the improvement of roads, agriculture, and other important projects. Another P8 billion will be spent for hospital and school building facilities,” Relampagos said.

However, the DBM also clarified that the issues on risk-sharing will be discussed by the government with the private sector, particularly on the implementation of PPP projects.
