In the palm of her hand PDF Print E-mail

In my life, there are days when the sun appears a little slower than usual to come out and push away the darkness. This morning happened to be one of those days. I woke up feeling badly in need of some inspiration. My head felt heavy and my body sluggish after a night of drifting in and out of sleep as I kept watch over my daughter while she battled with fever. There also seems a lot on my plate that needs cleaning up that I can’t help feeling like everything is teetering on the brink of a downward spiral. At times like this when gloom threatens to engulf me, I prod my mind to dredge up wonderful memories. Often, they are simple ones that show me how I am always cared for, protected, guided and loved beyond measure by Someone Up There who holds me in the palm of Her hand.

Flipping through the pages of my memory, I came across this one time when I was meeting my friends for lunch and my Mom asked me to get her a Smart Buddy card. Amidst the fun and laughter, I totally forgot about her request. As we were leaving the restaurant, I hitched a ride with a friend who lives in Sta. Maria and asked her to drop me off where it was most convenient for her. When we reached Sta. Maria, she pulled over and stopped in front of a store saying, “I’ll let you off here where you can easily get a ride. This is what I call my drive-thru because when I need my cel cards, I just drive through this store and get them here. You can just imagine my astonishment. To think that I never even said anything to her about needing a cel card and yet she led me right to the doorstep of a store where I could get one! Amazing.

My reminiscing also took me to another time when my Mom and I were window shopping. I saw some blouses which I thought would look good on her and urged her to try them on. At first, she was reluctant to do so insisting she no longer needed them since she didn’t go out often anymore. But I was equally insistent saying she just might find some use for them soon. Eventually, she tried them on and got one which I felt looked perfect on her. A few days later, an invitation came for her to grace a birthday party in one of the more popular hotels in the city. She couldn’t refuse because she was also requested to give a message for the celebrant on the occasion of his 40th birthday. When I heard about it, I looked at her and couldn’t help but smile. Suddenly, the reason for the unexpected purchase was crystal clear.

That is my Universe. She knows my needs even before I realize them myself. So many times She’s a few steps ahead of me, orchestrating things on my behalf. If I can only remind myself of that often and trust in Her, perhaps I can be more relaxed about life and thus begin manifesting so much more of the stuff of my best life.

For those of you who, like me, need reminding once in a while that we are children of the Universe and that our wishes are Her command, Mike Dooley shares these lines:

“I need your help with this one.

Please, just for a second, hold out the palm of your hand and give it a quick glance. Now imagine a miniaturized version of a loved one carefully and comfortably resting in it. Feel waves of your love blanketing this precious being. Imagine seeing the life of this loved one playing out in your palm and feeling their every joy and sadness. Imagine reading his or her mind and wanting nothing for yourself except to see their dreams come true.

Then you smile radiantly, filled with pride and joy, knowing that they are always safe, always provided for, never alone, and inescapably destined to learn of these truths for themselves. You smile because you know that the day of their awakening swiftly approaches, as does their own sublime joy and the manifestation of their boldest dreams.

Okay, that should do it.

Now, can you also imagine that “someone else” right this very moment is smiling down at you as you play out your life in the palm of their hand?
Yours truly,
The Universe
