LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… For to us a child is born, to us a son is given,  and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called… Mighty God, Everlasting Father…” (Isaiah 9:6, the Holy Bible).

POLITICIANS SHOULD NOT MEDDLE IN OFW BAN: Politicians should refrain from commenting on the deployment ban against overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) which the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has imposed upon the request of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), especially if they have no suggestions that can help the OFWs anyway.

I am sure POEA Administrator Carlos Cao Jr. and the entire POEA Governing Board issued the deployment ban, prohibiting the employment of OFWs in about 41 countries, with the interests of our countrymen at heart especially because the ban was requested by the DFA itself.

Now, if our politicians, especially from the Senate, do not agree with the ban, would they be willing to issue their personal guarantees that OFWs who will be sent to jobs abroad will no longer be abused, maltreated, maimed and even killed?

41 COUNTRIES AFFECTED BY THE POEA BAN: According to the POEA Governing Board’s Resolution No. 7-2011, OFWs  cannot be deployed to the following countries: Afghanistan, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Cambodia, Cayman Islands, Chad, Croatia, Cuba, North Korea, Dominica, East Timor/Timor Leste, Eritrea, Haiti, India, Iraq, Kyrgzstan/Kyrgyz Republic and Lebanon.

Also covered by the ban are Lesotho, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Montenegro, Mozambique, Nauru, Nepal, Niger, Pakistan, Palestine, Serbia, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Sudan, Swaziland, Tajikistan, Tonga, Turks and Caicos, Tuvalu, US Virgin Islands, Vanuatu and Zimbabwe.

MEDIA WAR BETWEEN BONG AND GENELYN: The media war between Genelyn Magsaysay and Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. over the violent death of Ramgen Bautista or Ram Revilla, Genelyn’s eldest son by Bong’s father, Sen. Ramon Revilla Sr., confirms what I have been saying all along here: there is something more than meets the eye in Ramgen’s killing.

It is quite evident that both the Magsaysay and Bong Revilla camps are at odds over something very big in connection with Ramgen’s death and the involvement of his siblings, Ramon Joseph and Ramona. What this “something big” is all about may yet unravel as Genelyn and Bong trade media barbs in the days to come. Abangan!!!

SITTING AND INACTIVITY CAUSE CANCER: Here is a disturbing news for those who sit and are inactive all day long: Yahoo! News, quoting epidemiologists from Alberta Health Services-Cancer Care, says prolonged sitting and inactivity induce colon and breast cancer. To remedy this problem, there is a need to be more physically active during the day, Yahoo! News says.

SIGN OF THE CHILD BEING “GOD WITH US”: Here is a part of the Bible which says that the “Son” who will be born from the “Virgin” is God and Father: “… Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel…” (Isaiah 9:6, the Bible).
