Mayor Lobregat hails FTTS for sustaining outreach activity PDF Print E-mail

Mayor Celso Lobregat has extolled the Turkish community managing the Filipino Turkish Tolerance School (FTTS) for sustaining the outreach activity during the celebration of Eid’l Adha or Hariraya Hajj.

This, as Mayor Lobregat yesterday joined the FTTS management headed by School Director Mehmet Cetin in the celebration of the Eid’l Adha and in the distribution of the sacrificial beef meat to indigent families and members of the police and military forces and other peace officers.

Aside from sustaining the outreach activity, the mayor said, the Turkish community also helps promote good relationship between the Muslims and the Christians in the city.

The celebration of Eid’l Adha by the Muslim community worldwide yesterday, November 7, was declared a special occasion in the country. The occasion marked the feast of sacrifice or the culmination of the Islamic World’s Hariraya Hajj piligrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

Mayor Lobregat together with Cong. Beng Climaco and Councilors Myra Paz Abubakar, Percival Ramos and Nonong Guingona joined the Turkish community during lunch at the FTTS campus yesterday, afterwhich he proceeded to distribute the 400 bags of sacrificial beef meat.

Together with Councilors Abubakar, Guingona and Ramos the mayor proceeded to the Task Force Zamboanga headquarters, Western Mindanao Command gate, Sta. Maria Health center, Sta. Maria police station, Sta. Maria Fire sub-station, TFZ checkpoint Calarian, Tetuan police station, Fire substation-Tetuan, Central Fire Station, Central Police Station, Filipino-Chinese Fire Brigade, City Hall Security gate, COMPAC city Hall, COMPAC calarian,  Fire substation-Calarian, City Jail, Katilingban Foundation, Social Development Center, Women’s Crisis center and Home for the Elderly to distribute the beef meat.

The Turkish community this year slaughtered over 300 cows as a form of sacrifice. The meat products were distributed to thousands of indigent families including members of the police, military and other forces securing the city and other volunteers.

The FTTS also distributes beef meat in cooperation with Mayor Lobregat and other city officials during other Muslim celebrations such as Hariraya Puasa.
