LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives…” (Colossians 1:9, the Holy Bible).

MALAMPAYA GAS DEPOSITS: WILL RP BENEFIT FROM IT? Okay, so  there are enormous gas deposits in the disputed Spratly’s Islands, as President Aquino disclosed at the business leaders conference of the Asia-Pacific Economic Forum in Honolulu, Hawaii. But, will the Philippines be able to benefit from it, considering the fierce claims of other countries on the territory, especially those of mighty China?

FILIPINOS WITHOUT THE WORD OF GOD: This is a question for Education Secretary Armin Luistro: will education among the Filipino youth be substantially improved by his order to the 45,000 or so schools nationwide, and the Department of Education regional and division offices, to follow the Philippine Standard Time (PST)? I am sorry but I can see that following PST will not make any difference in the education of the young.

I said this before, I will say it again: Luistro and the DepEd must do something to dovetail the curriculum of all elementary and high school education with what the Holy Bible said is the way to raise our children: “ Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4).

And what is the training and instruction of the Lord? This is provided for Deuteronomy 6:5-7 of the Bible: “… Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children…”

Without doubt, the reason why the Philippines continue to have grafters and corrupt and morally-bankrupt leaders and officials is that, many Filipinos, especially those who have money and power, grew up without the Word of God in their hearts, and, growing up without God’s Word, were without fear and love of God, capable of being corrupt and terribly bad.

WHY IS PACQUIAO GETTING SO MUCH BLESSINGS? As of fight time, Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao enjoyed a 1,100 betting advantage over Mexican fighter Juan Manuel Marquez, meaning that for every US$1,000 dollar bet for the Filipino champion, it would only bring US$100. Even fight promoter Bob Arum was greatly awed, saying “this is ridiculous”.

But the real question is: why is Pacquiao getting so much blessings at this point in his life and career? The question is relevant, considering his very primitive beginnings, more particularly when, many times in the past when he was not yet champion, he had to ask help from friends to bail him out even for non-payment of a rented residential unit.

The answer is, so he can, with his blessings, give and be charitable to others, so that many will praise and thank God, as provided for 2 Corinthians 9:11: “… You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God…”

“…NOTHING LASTS FOREVER…”: Our political and government leaders    must pause for a while and ponder this: Silvio Berlusconi, Italy’s Premier for 17 years, resigned from his office the other day, amidst the cheers of Italians who got fed up with him. This confirms once more that nothing lasts forever but the earth and the sky, so everyone must strive to do good while he or she can, for we will pass this way but once.
