LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge…” (1 Corinthians 1:4-5, the Holy Bible).

RP DAMS FILLED TO THE BRIM: GOOD OR BAD SIGN? Melcor Virata of the Sigma Rho Fraternity of the UP College of Law posted an interesting information that should be greatly disturbing to Filipinos in Luzon who have by now tasted the death and destruction coming from rains, floods and strong winds on a yearly basis: all major dams in Northern Philippines are now filled to the brim.

Virata commented: “First time na full ang lahat ng dam. Lalo na ang Pantabangan. Good omen for very good harvest in 2012.” Well, I want to hope this is really a good omen, but then, I feel something else—how come the dams are filled with water now when it is supposed to be the start of the dry, rainless, season already?
Where are all the water that have filled the major dams in Luzon coming from? If the dams are already full and the weather bureau says there are still about three to five typhoons coming in before 2011 ends, and these typhoons would be quite stronger than what they used to be, are we not facing the prospects of the whole of Luzon going under water, God forbid?

HEAT WAVES TO CAUSE RAINS, FLOODS, CYCLONES: This is a cause for grave concern and government authorities should do something about it already, especially because we are not wanting in warnings that the Philippines could suffer what Bangkok in Thailand is suffering right now—unprecedented flooding all around, even if there is no rain.

From Reuters, a respected international news agency, we have a report just two or three days ago which says: “An increase in heat waves is almost certain, while heavier rainfall, more floods, stronger cyclones, landslides and more intense droughts are likely across the globe this century as the Earth’s climate warms, U.N. scientists said on Friday.”

Indeed, the time to prepare is now, and it would do well for all us that, in our preparations, we must remember the Biblical dimensions of rains, floods and winds, as Jesus Christ, our God and Savior, discoursed in Matthew 7:24-27.

JESUS ON RAINS, FLOODS AND WINDS: Here is Matthew 7:24-27 of the Bible: “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

“But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” Notice the reference to rains, floods and strong winds as instruments of destruction?

MALACANANG KNOWS OF GLORIA’S PALACE? One source told me that Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s palace “overlooking the cliff” in the Dominican Republic should be known to Malacanang, considering that there were officials from the Office of the President, during her time, that had been going to that palace. True or false, Gloria?
