Today is the first day of December and the last month of year 2011. Chinese calendar tells us that 2012 is the Year of the Dragon. To many Chinese, Year of the Dragon is fiery and hot but like the Dragon, although feared by the people of the olden times, it also brings wealth, prosperity and above all unquestioned leadership. Today, at this time of enlightenment, when you are called “dragon”, you are the boss, the leader and somebody feared by his peers.

A dragon, to all of us, its existence, is only a myth, but it has been written many times and it becomes almost true to many children. When stories of dragon are read to the children, a picture of a monster breathing fire comes into their minds. However, however, there are stories of good and kind of a monster that helped and protected people from their enemies. One story of a dragon was that, it bore a son in a human form and he became a king of the land and a good and brave king at that. Another story was, a cruel dragon appears every year and with its “breath of fire” burns all the villages it can see until one day a man was born who was destined to kill the dragon and the myth called the man “the dragon slayer”.

Today we see dragons everywhere, even at the highest office of the land. It does not breathe fire, but the words coming from their mouth are more than fire, it cannot burn you but can kill you alive. They don’t have sharp claws with six legs and a long sturdy tail, but, with a single stroke of their hand holding a pen, can end your life or put you away alive till eternity. They don’t have wings but they can fly anywhere in the world and talk to different kinds of people, but, like a dragon does not reveal what he has discussed and wanted to keep it up to himself. Like a dragon he wants to be alone but when biological needs summons him, he can have any mate he wants and after satisfying his desire they drop their mate like a “hot potato”. Like a dragon, you are impressed but with fear all over you when he is in front of you and you believe all what he says but after he leaves, you remain hungry, poor and your life becomes more miserable because he has “dragonitos” everywhere called spokesman or alter ego who repeats his lies. Like a dragon, he kills his enemies with impunity but protects with tooth and nail his people who are close to him and many times he lends them his awesome powers to finish off his remaining enemies.

Unlike the dragon in a fairytale, this dragon has a name, he is called “your Excellency” or “your Honor” but many of his people silently they call him “your Highness” or “my Lord” because they all know the dragon can devour them alive by removing them their honor and the lavish food from their table. Unlike the dragon too, when he fights his enemies and see them lying down helpless and defenseless, the dragon leaves them, but this dragon is not contented of snapping your one life. He waits thinking, you have still have one more life and  is ready to snap it mercilessly too.

When he was a young dragon, there was an old dragon sitting on her throne in the palace by the river but due to the insistence of his dragon followers he unseated the old dragon and grabbed the throne by the river and there he sat but reluctantly at first. He showed his dragon followers that he wanted to stay in his old cave he inherited from his slain dragon father and his saintly dragon mother but he saw that living in the palace and sitting in the throne of power by the river is tempting and his hungry dragon followers insisted that he sits at the throne they captured and so he sat at his throne and continues to pounce at the old dragon that he conquered. Not contented with the wounds he inflicted upon the old dragon, the young dragon continued to inflict more wounds and the almost old healing wound were lacerated again to show the dragons of the world that he is fighting for them and their future.
