LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…`Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come to his people and redeemed them. He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David (as he said through his holy prophets of long ago)’…” (Luke 1:68-70, the Holy Bible).

INTERNET ANGER VS. PNOY: There is anger in the Internet about supposed postings made by a female television celebrity which said that President Aquino partied with members of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) Sunday night, December 18, 2011, together with two actresses, while Filipinos in Northern Mindanao struggled to rise above the death and tragedy brought by Typhoon Sendong over the weekend.

The sentiment is that, how could the President even go to a party when the country is in mourning with some 700 or so Filipinos mercilessly killed in the aftermath of rampaging flood waters, and millions of pesos worth of properties devastated?

There is also the question about the inability of the President to immediately fly to Northern Mindanao and personally assess the damage, institute remedial measures, bring assistance to affected residents who, even now, have run out of safe drinking water, and at the very least, to condole with the grieving families. Malacanang must answer these fast, as they tend to show misguided priorities of the Chief Executive.

CARE IN INTERNET POSTINGS: This brings up the issue of sobriety in postings in the Internet, and the realization that anything posted by anyone instantly gets circulated not only in the Philippines but in the whole world.

As business mogul Manuel V. Pangilinan said, an Internet posting immediately goes global. So, Ms. Valerie Concepcion, please be more careful about what you put in your Tweeter account next time, even if the only intention is to crow about having entertained the President and the PSG, an opportunity which, indeed, is very rare and is worth sharing.

SOMEBODY GOOFED ON SENDONG: The Aquino government and PAGASA evidently goofed on Typhoon Sendong. I mean, the United States’ National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), already warned the Philippines that rains from Sendong will be as hard as the rains from Ondoy.

And yet, nobody acted to evacuate our hapless countrymen from Cagayan De Oro and Iligan Cities. Why? PAGASA, or the Philippine weather bureau, thought that NASA and JAXA were unreliable like itself? Did we not already kick out old PAGASA reliables when the Aquino government came in? It seems they managed to stay behind, just the same.

WARNINGS OF JESUS ABOUT RAINS AND FLOODS: Now, once more with feeling, here are the warnings of Jesus Christ, our God and Savior, in Matthew 7:24-25 about rains and floods: “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man…The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

And in Matthew 7:26-27, Jesus clarified: “…But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash…”
