This year’s celebration of Talon-Talon Fiesta Festival (May 14) was distinctly flavorful and deliciously tasteful. Talon-Talon Barangay Captain Teodyver “Teody” Arquiza together with his Kagawads and constituents introduced the first Talon-Talon’s “Longest Bulad Boodle Fight.” Long and connected tables spread in Maharlika Drive Street  covered with banana leaves had fried dried fishes with hot piping rice and tomatoes on top.

Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar, Zamboanga Barangay Captains Association President Jerry Perez, and RMN Executive Rod Marcelino were the special guests. Together with Kap. Teody, they led other guests and the constituents in feasting on one of Pinoy’s favorite meal– “bulad” or dried fish - boodle fight style.

Talon-Talon, particularly Talon-Talon Loop, has long been known for its dried fish business for many decades. It’s the perfect place to dry fishes because of its wide open space for sunshine rays and it is near the salt beds in the adjacent barangay Sta. Catalina(where sea salts are being made). Location wise, it is also very accessible to different Zamboanga sea ports where fishes are being docked.

It’s a half-month long celebration in Talon-Talon. There will be other fun summer activities there : Juego de Antes (May 27), medical missions (May 23 and 25), a 2-day massive clean up (May 24 and 25), basketball final games (May 18), and the most awaited culminating event, the inter-pook Santacruzan (May 30) presenting the barangays beautiful "sagalas" ladies.
