WMSU welcomes media in 2014 Kapihan PDF Print E-mail

Western Mindanao State University on Tuesday, July 15, opened its doors to representatives from various print and broadcast media outfits in the city for its annual press conference dubbed as the WMSU Kapihan.

The WMSU Kapihan is held in line with the celebration of the week-long founding anniversary of the university. Organized by the Public Affairs Office (PAO) of the university, directed by Dr. Lea Usman Laput, this year’s press conference was held at the lobby of the university’s Executive Building. It was attended by notable media practitioners in Zamboanga.

WMSU President, Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho, answered various queries raised by the press people which centered on the programs offered by the university including language programs that not only cater to Zamboangueños, but to foreign students as well.

Present also in the event were the directors and deans of different offices and colleges in WMSU, as well as the Vice Presidents: Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena (VP for Academic Affairs), Dr. Ederlinda M. Fernandez (VP for Planning, Administration and Finance) and Dr. Roberto B. Torres (VP for Research, Development and Extension).

Prof. Ali T. Yacub, former PAO Director presided over the press conference. It was during his time as the PAO Director that the annual WMSU Kapihan was founded to welcome partners from the media who have helped in boosting the publicity of the university in its 110 years of existence.

WMSU will also celebrate its joint 94th and 95th Grand Alumni Homecoming from July 18 to 19, this coming Friday to Sunday. The university’s alumni are encouraged to come home and reminisce their  school with classmates, teachers, and friends.
