China made car, Chery, is slowly penetrating the discriminating Europe market. At Belgrade Auto Show last April 2011, Chery  was the only participating Chinese automaker and received good reviews from Serbian consumers and media. Aside from selling 51 vehicles in this fair,Chery received three award: “Award for Market Performance”, “Marketing Award,” and

“Award for Booth Design”.

The auto company presented a strong line-up of seven models among them the Chery Sedan/Hatchback A1 and A3 and Tiggo (T11), Chery G5 and S18EV. Every day the Chery’s booth was crowded with visitors. A lot of consumers even placed orders on the spot. Within only a week, Chery sold 51 vehicles, including 29 Tiggo, 15 A1 and 7 A3.

A Serbian consumer tried Tiggo, saying, “Tiggo is fashionable, well-equipped and powerful, our family is fond of it. Chery has changed our recognition of Chinese vehicles, and I am prepared to buy a Tiggo.”

Serbia is one of Chery’s most important overseas markets. Located in a strategic position of the Balkans in South Europe, neighboring eight countries, it is the only land corridor linking Southeast Europe and the Middle East. Belgrade Auto Show, held biennially, is the largest auto exhibition in the Balkans. This year saw the 49th edition of the event from March 25 to April 3 attracting a record 410 famous automakers from around the world.

As a result, Chery stood out of numerous exhibiting brands to claim three awards: “Award for Market Performance”, “Marketing Award” and “Award for Booth Design”, showcasing the strength and charm of Chinese automakers. An industry insider of Serbia said, “Chery’s innovative ability and speed of market development are amazing.”

Actually, since Chery landed on the Balkans in March 2010, within less than a year, its sales and service networks have covered major cities in Serbia and Macedonia. Chery was well received by local consumers for its handsome appearance, rich configuration and superb cost performance. Recently, Tiggo outperformed other similar SUV models to claim “the SUV Oscar of 2011” from the Serbian Auto Forum.

Besides, Chery vehicles were favored by the Serbian government. In a bid for official vehicles of Belgrade Police, by outstanding quality and professional after-sale services, Chery beat international giants such as Volkswagen, Fiat, Peugeot, Toyota and Hyundai to enter the Serbian government official vehicle market. Speaking of development of the Serbian market, Chery Serbia Manager said, “Outstanding product performance and perfect after-sale services are sharp weapons of Chery to compete in the Serbian market.”

As a country that has applied for a membership of the EU, Serbia is much close to neighboring Central and West European countries in automobile laws and regulations, consumption concepts and consumer characteristics. Chery’s brilliant performance at Belgrade Auto Show will undoubtedly gear it up for entry into the European market and fully demonstrate Chery’s strength and determination to march towards the global auto market!

Chery is set to invade the hearts of Filipino car lovers. One of the long term pipe line plans of the company is to establish a manufacturing plant in our country.  Chery Motors Philippines Chief Executive Officer Dr. Si Chung Chang said this marks their full expansion in the Asian market. A Philippine made car with Chinese technology will run down the road soon, Chery VP for Marketing and Sales Raymond Tribdino added.
