Building with plastic – I CAN PDF Print E-mail

After their successful fund run event last summer, a local multi-awardee non-government organization, I CAN Make A Difference, is now building their second “plastic building” inside the Edwin Andrews Airbase (EAAB), Sta. Maria, Zamboanga City. It will serve as a multi-purpose venue for trainings and meetings.  This is an environmental project being supported by the officers and men of EAAB.

This bottlekiosk project is lauded because of its environmental component as it uses disposable large plastic softdrink bottles. Instead of hollow blocks, the plastic bottles filled with cement are being used as walls of the building.  The plastic bottles are gathered and donated by different organizations and concerned individuals.

The first “plastic building” of I CAN was the half-way house in Lakewood, Zamboanga del Sur, that serves as a health center. It was built in 2012. Local offices and schools can support this noble project by collecting plastic softdrink bottles and channeling it to I CAN. Visit the group’s Facebook account to find out how.

Leviticus 25:23-24 - The land must not be sold permanently, because the land is mine and you are but aliens and my tenants. Throughout the country that you hold as a possession, you must provide for the redemption of the land. (NIV)
