We all carry a cross in our life. It may represent the trials we went thru or are still experiencing, but what is essential the cross gives us hope – that at the end, we will be victors of glory. And this is what I saw in the on-going design exhibit of Gerry Atilano, Zamboanga City’s par excellent artist cum director and event organizer, at the Garden Orchid Hotel.

Entitled, “Las Cruces Nuestra Vida Y La Gloria,” meaning “The Crosses Our Life and Glory”, the exhibit’s 33 different crosses done in different mediums expresses our life's experience. Even if you’re not a religious person, artistic or have an eye for an art work, visit the exhibit and feel the phenomenon of the cross. As you stand there and view it for a time, you will feel that there is hope (resurrection) from life’s trials.

Art as they say imitates (represents) life. We experience different cross of life. And this is true in this exhibit.

Don’t miss this art event. You may even buy one cross as it may represent your life or gives you hope every time you see it on your wall. Exhibit will run until October 19. (Credit to ace photographer Jess Yu for the pictures in this spread.)

“Where I was born and where and how I have lived is unimportant. It is what I have done with where I have been that should be of interest.” (D.L. Moody). Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”(Mark 8:34).
