Zamboanga City’s favorite and prime News FM station, Brigada 93.1 News FM Zamboanga, turned 1 (one) year old last October 11 with a celebration at the Grand Astoria Hotel. Special guests City Mayor Beng Climaco as well as City Councilors Meng Agan and Mel Sadain congratulated the men and women, behind the popular radio tagline, “Brigada Duro (Strong Brigade).” This really describes why it is a successful FM radio station - it stands strong for the people and different communities it serves.

In August 2013, Brigada Mass Media Corporation owner Elmer Catulpos, who also runs the Brigada Newspaper and the 89.5 Brigada News FM General Santos launched Brigada 93.1 News FM Zamboanga smoothly after the September siege.

And in one year, the station got a big slice of Zamboangueño FM listeners, and is now considered as the No.1 most-listened FM news and music station in this city.  It is the first station that started the News/Talk on FM Format trend here.

Kudos to the Station Manager Dante Vicente, Program Director Nonong Santiago, News Director Sai Cortez, and Jude Macrohon in-charge of the FM, for its successful first year operation. The station has a mass appeal with sensitive public affairs programs like the Larga Brigada hosted by Nelson Lacastesantos, the Banat Brigada anchored by Sai Cortez (a news program with commentary), and the  fearless and hard hitting Punto Brigada by Station Manager Dan Vicente.

The reliable reporters of the station are Dodong Ramos, Kathrina Aniñon Tenorio, Daryll Canillo, Jerry Amaga, Michael Bonito, Guen Delosantos, Lito Climaco, Fuego Torres, Charlie Ramos, Zandro Navarro, Rolando Alfonso, and Rolando Ibañez.

After the party at Astoria, the group went to UP North of Park 88, the latest dance place in town, in Pasonanca to continue the celebration.

1 Peter 2: 9-10. ““But you are a chosen people. You are priests to your king. You are a holy nation. You are God’s very own people. All this is so that you will tell how good he is. He called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. At one time you were not God’s people. But now you are God’s people. At one time you did not know God’s kindness. Now you do.”
