Like in his previous fight, I am sure most Filipinos will be glue in their TV (in the case of far flung barrios, radio) today until the winner is declared. World boxing champion Manny Pacquiao will defend his title, WBO Welterweight Championship, against the taller and younger Chris Algereio at the  at the Venetian Resort in the gambling mecca of Macau.

There will be 7 undercards before the main fight. Algieri is undefeated and used to be a sparring partner of Pacquiao. The last fight of Pacquiao was last April 2014 wherein he defeated Timothy Bradley. Algeire won over former junior welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov last June. This fight earned him the opportunity of the lifetime against one of boxing’s biggest superstars - Pacquiao.

It’s funny to hear some Filipino female fans who rave over the good-looking Algierri. In a television interview, they were asking Pacquiao not to deface the handsome Algierri. Yesterday, during the weight in, Algierri had to instantly remove his underwear and do some strenuous exercise as he weighed in 144.4 pounds. The fight weight limit is 144-pound. Pacquiao weighing in at 143.8 and was qualified. After less than an hour, Algierri came back with a weight of 143.8.

Over the radio, I heard Pacquaio will ask his Pastors to sing the Pambansang Awit instead of Jessica Sanchez who was the original choice. Good thing, Sanchez understood and gave in. As a faithful Christian, Pacquiao is leading bible study and preaching even he has a busy schedule.

Let’s pray that Pacquiao will win. After this, it will be in the most anticipated fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr.  Enjoy watching the fight at Lotus Restaurant in Grand Astoria Hotel and at Kape Zambo.
