Though I was not able to join it (out of town), I am proud of the officers of Zamboanga Press Club Inc. (ZPCI) for another milestone activity last December 7. In cooperation with the local chapter of the Philippine Red Cross and the Zamboanga City Water District, Media Safety Training, a brief training course on first aid and what to do during emergency was taught to the members of the 4th estate at the Sitio Canucutan, a protected watershed in Pasonanca.  This event adds an important skill to our local media people as they are always exposed in dangerous places and situations.

It was highlighted also with a tree planting activity in line with the club’s social environmental responsibility program. Trees were planted around the place.

The group was led by President JB Francisco, EVP Eugene Lasprilla, VP for Print Mon Follosco, Secretary Marilyn delos Santos, Chairman of the Board Bong Garcia, Board Directors Hermie Ventura and Roel Pareño. A lunch boodle fight followed and swimming in the cool water river.

Energetic ZPCI is indeed making a difference not only to its members but also to our community.
