The 2014 Tzu Chi Zamboanga One Mega Fair and Christmas Charity Bazaar last Sunday, December 14, was a raving success at Garden Orchid Hotel - the most anticipated annual bazaar of Zamboanga City. Thousands of people trooped not only to shop, they also went there to be entertained, and, above all, to help the good cause of the event on its 14th year.

The 14th One Mega was one of the best. Most of the participating booths were new entrepreneurs that sold items not yet in the market, if not, are only available abroad or in Manila. Prices were very reasonable. Those who have stable stores or outlets in the city  introduced new products if not, sold their products on sale or with big discounts. As a matter of fact, there was a clamor to extend it, but the organizer explained, they only do it a one day mega affair.

What Pep Talks really admire about this event is the fund raised is used by the non-profit Tzu Chi Foundation for their various projects. And I have been a witnessed to several of their humanitarian and charitable programs in the past. From offering free medical check-ups to medical operations at the Tzu Chi Love Center in Zamboanga Medical Center, the group goes out to help people and communities during calamities.

Tzu Chi supporters, mostly successful business people and professionals including students, who volunteers are not paid. They even shoulder their fares and accommodations when they join Tzu Chi out-of-town projects. They have traveled already to Cagayan de Oro, Davao, and recently in Tacloban,  when these cities were devastated by typhoons and floods. And in almost all Zamboanga unfortunate events, they are there to extend a helping hand from donating food, medicines, clothing, etc.

Thank you, Tzu Chi, for sharing your great love.

Philippians 2:3-4 “Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Tzu Chi has imbibed this verse – uniting people of different interests and culture.
