Congratulations to the Zamboanga Runners Club for successfully organizing well the fun run “Run for Childhood Cancer” last June 12. Since it was also the celebration of our country’s 113th Independence Day, I can surmise that it was also a start of liberation from the deathly cancer. This dreaded disease is becoming one of the top killers in the world today and I am glad activity such as this helps creates general public awareness and raises support from different sectors.

From government sectors to different private organizations and individuals, they ran that day to tell Zamboanga City that we must take seriously this disease. The funds raised will be used for the cancer patients of the pediatric ward of Zamboanga Medical Center.

The day was highlighted with an exclusive fun run for kids only aside from the adult participants. Cartoon characters and colorful balloons from By Gems Party Kingdom made it more fun for the children (and I guess those who kid’s hearts). It started with a flying of sky lanterns and an exercise to prepare the body before the official run.

(1 Corinthians 9:27) “But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.”
