Honestly, it is not only the prep, kinder kids, or Grade 1 students who are petrified in the first day of school. First year or transferee college students also go thru this feeling of anxiety. On the first day of college life, especially when you’re alone and none of your high school classmate, a relative, or a friend has enrolled in the same school, you tend to get lost. I was!

I was enrolling at UP Visayas in Iloilo City when I suddenly changed my mind two days after I submitted my requirements. I went back to Zamboanga City and studied in Western Visayas State University instead. Though Iloilo City is where I was born and my Dad’s hometown, it is different when you new in a place and alone. My parents respected my indecisive action and didn’t reprimand me.

I am glad to learn that STI College Zamboanga knows this “first college life dilemma” and has a commendable program to address this. They have a remarkable welcome event to make the new students at home every school opening.

This year STI Zamboanga had a memorable STI Freshmen Students Orientation Program last June 15 and 16. All incoming freshmen students and transferees were given an opportunity to know each other as well the school’s personnel, instructors, and professors. The school’s policies and regulations were simply and clearly explained to the neophytes. Questions were answered and concerns were clarified along the way.

In most other schools, after paying your tuition, they just hand the school handbook for you to read. In STI College Zamboanga, every student is a family. It starts the first school day right.

STI College Zamboanga is known as the leading IT school in Western Mindanao. They have quiet number of students, from other places and from other local schools, who are now successful career professionals and business people here and abroad.
