I love work of arts. They bring messages of life that perks up our surrounding. They color our lives. And these have been proven with clinical studies. Paintings create positive vibes and influence the viewers to appreciate life. An office or any room with paintings   create connection compare to an office or room without painting – they seem to be dull and dreary.

So when the latest art exhibit “Solamente Zamboanga” (Exclusive Zamboanga) opened last October 1 at the lobby of Garden Orchid Hotel, this is what I have observed. The art works of 15 local artists has brightened up the place and is mesmerizing hotel guests and visitors. It made me proud of them – Romel Racho, Sandra Jamiro, Francisco Lorenzo, Chito Alvarez, Maridol Vasquez, Mark Burda, Ahl-Qasmi Lakibul, Teofilo Torino, Claire Lukban, Chrisel Babol, Sheena Cascon, Shariff Morales,  Moh. Reza Abbas,  Buds Lacho, and Wilhelmina Siasico.

I liked particularly the work of Siasico – it connotes fun and brings smile to my face. Their art presentations were under the guidance of international artist Rameeer Tawasil who inspired them to create more than 30 artworks depicting the beauty of Zamboanga.

I am glad too that our the City Government of Zamboanga through the Office of the City Tourist is very supportive of this kind of activity. Zamboanga City Mayor Celso Lobregat came later and congratulated the artists. The exhibit will run until October 31.
