"The incident was very unfortunate (referring to the bombings), but it was nothing to the 800,000 Zamboanguenos celebrating their history. There were only two blasts. There are 800,000 explosions of talents and goodwill in your city." - DOT Sec. Ramon R. Jimenez, Jr. (special guest of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival 2011 “Vamos A Zamboanga” Celebration).  He encouraged Zamboangueños to be proud of the majesty of our city.

After his press conference at the Garden Orchid Hotel, he later told the jampacked crowd at the Joaquin Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex last October 11, 2011 that “When we see a community coming together as you have, that is the kind of explosion that the world wants to see. We are far bigger than our trouble. Zamboanga City is way ahead of so many places in the country."

The celebration of the Zamboanga Hermosa this year is, indeed, bigger, more spectacular, colorful, and more festive compared to previous years. Kudos to Zamboanga Mayor Celso Lobregat through the City Tourism Officer Sarita Hernandez!

The charming DOT Secretary Jimenez committed to Mayor Lobregat that Zamboanga City will be given priority in his nationwide tourism program. Before the year 2012 will start, he said his office will roll out the DOT campaign slogan.

Thank you, newly appointed Department of Tourism Sec. Mon Jimenez, for your faith in our city.
