Zamboanga Chamber bags prestigious 2011 Philippines business awards PDF Print E-mail

It was a glorious moment last October 13, 2011 at the Manila Hotel when the president of the Zamboanga City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation Industry Inc. (ZCCCIFI) , Pedro Rufo Soliven, was called up on stage to received two major awards from the Philippine Chamber of Commerce Inc. (PCCI) during the 37th Philippine Business Conference. With no less than the President of the Philippines, Benigno Simeon Aquino III, handing the awards to him and witnessed by top PCCI officials and Philippines’ prominent business people. The other winners are Cebu Chamber of Commerce (Visayas) and Angeles City Chamber of Commerce (Luzon).

PCCI awards are coveted by chamber members as it gives prestige and recognitions to its recipients. It is given annually to chambers that have excelled in rendering business and community services. It is not easy to receive PCCI award as the chamber have to undergo a stringent process.

Bidding chambers must submit proof of evidences that its programs and advocacies had created an impact to the local business industry. A bid book supported with documents is first submitted before the interviews. Then the awardees are strictly screened and interviewed by a board of panels several times and as asked to wait until the award’s night. Previous winners came from Metro cities with big business industries like Manila, Cebu, Davao, and Cagayan de Oro City.

These awards are the first that Zamboanga Chamber has received since it started in 1970. This is also the first chamber within Western Mindanao to grab it.

The first award is the Most Outstanding Chamber in Mindanao Award. It recognizes the commendable efforts in accelerating business growth in the area as evidenced by its exemplary leadership and dynamism,, strong advocacy program, good  working relationship with government ,increased membership base and effective delivery of services.

The second award for ZCCIFI was the Most Outstanding Chamber Award for its highly commendable advocacy program in support of the advancement of competitiveness of the business community in the City of Zamboanga .
