Its seems just only yesterday when the yellow-colored boat  “Pag-Asa” (Hope) of the Zamboanga Funds for Little Kids (ZFLK) started to bring the children of the offshore Layag-Layag Community, Talon-Talon, Zamboanga City to dry land. Two years ago they have to waddle and swim to go to school as their family homes are situated above sea level.

But not anymore, several Pag-Asa boats have been built that also being used by their parents for livelihood (seaweed farming and fishing). A multi-purpose hall and mosque are on the rise too. Thanks to this noble program of ZLFK, the lives of this impoverished place have been improved. It is getting more fun here as more kind hearted persons and charitable organizations have continue to assist and pledge support to Layag-Layag.

Another power good news, the residents of Layag-Layag will receive Nokero Solar LED bulbs. It can provide 3 hours of light at night to enable Layag-Layag kids to read or do their assignment. In the morning, they can hang the solar bulbs by the window to recharge.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6). Have fun with life!
