Every year in the month of July the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) celebrates it as Blood Donors Month.  Aside from advocating the importance of blood donations, the natiowide event also honors people who have donated blood, and gives recognitions to supportive organizations.

For the local PRC chapter, nationally acclaimed Zamboanga Red Cross (ZRC) had a grand Bloody Hero’s Day Recognition Day last 31, 2012 at the ZRC Social Hall in Pettit Barracks. This year, more people and organizations were acknowledged and given specially marked “Hero” trophies and plaques, and framed certificates compare to previous years. This means there are now more “Bloody Heroes” who gave more blood to our ZRC blood bank.

Being one of the recipients of the ZRC Hero awards, I felt good and proud of it. The awards signify that we really care in saving lives of other people through our blood and the media campaign to convince others to do the same is effective.

But for me, the greatest Hero that day was the ZRC Administrator Dr. Victor “Vic” Liozo Jr. He is the man behind why ZRC has the biggest and is the most modern blood center in our country today manned by competent trained personnel.  It has a complete range of the latest laboratory and blood equipment and ever ready well equipped ambulances.

If if were not for Vic, this blood center could have been foerver housed in an old dilapidated building with antiquated equipment and with few personnel. However, his sheer leadership and focus vision is keeping ZRC always alive and active.

Watch for the opening of the BP Diagnostic and Clinical Laboratory at LDM Building in Pilar St., Zamboanga City on August 8, 2012. It will offer a complete range of affordable laboratory tests.

Encouraging all Zamcelco Consumers in District 2, 5 and 10 to go out and vote today for the new board representative in your area. Zamboanga City need competent, proven and good leader board members with vision to seat in these critical positions. Enough with mediocre board members who only attend meetings and get their honorarium fee and other personal benefits doing nothing to help resolve our power crisis.
