The 93rd Alumni Homecoming of Western Mindanao State University this December 14 and 15, 2012 will be one of the most exciting events of the university. With the theme, “WMSU: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow,” Alumni President Atty. Eduardo Sanson with the present active board members and newly appointed Alumni Director Florence Alcazar are busy preparing the different activities to make the homecoming more fun, significant, and inspirational.

The honorees are the Golden Jubilarians of Class ’62, the Pearl Jubilarians of Batch ’82, and the Silver Jubliarians of 1987. Registration will start as early as 7am at university’s gym that will be followed with a Thanksgiving Mass, Welcome Program, and street dancing.

The different colleges will have an exhibit and information booth at the newly constructed covered multi-purpose hall.  They will showcase the college’s achievements and accomplishments for public information, at the same time, encourage parents to enroll their children and graduating high school students to take a course with them. It will also serve as an exclusive meeting place of their alumni.

There will be a motorcade around the city in the afternoon before the Alumni Grand Fellowship Night dubbed “Whatchamacallit”. It will be highlighted with a surprise talent competition between the alumni groups after a sumptuous barbeque dinner and raffle of door prizes. The night will end with the flying of the hundreds of environmental friendly sky lanterns in the evening sky instead of the traditional fireworks. It is believed that sky lanterns bring good wishes to heaven and, at the time of this year,  let’s all wish the best for WMSU under the present administration of university president Dr. Milabel Ho.

The second homecoming day will be the alumni testimonial, recognition and awarding night at Hacienda de Palmeras. Aside from the honorees, alumni who became successful in their fields will be awarded and recognized. They have been carefully recommended by their respective colleges and were screened by the alumni board in closed door deliberations.

The ground breaking of Casa Alumni building will also be one of the important activities of this event. It will serve as a pension house for students, parents, visitors, and guests of the university.

All alumni of WMSU are encouraged to join this once a year gathering, meet old friends, be reacquainted with their teachers, and be inspired with the development of the university. WMSuans are advised to contact and visit their respective colleges.
