The gates of Western Mindanao State University (former Zamboanga Normal School) welcomed yesterday alumni with a rousing opening program and activities. The Golden Jubilarians of 1962 whom I had the chance to talk shared that they were happy that their beloved Alma Mater prepared a grand welcome party for them. The nursing Pearl Jubilarians of 1982 whose batch passed 100% in the nursing board under adviser Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho, now the university’s president, were enthusiastic to be one group again.

The Silver Jubilarians of 1987 were so eager and thrilled with the preparations. The day started with a Holy Mass followed with a welcome program, a street dancing, opening of the different college exhibit booths, and a sumptuous free lunch at the university lunch.

After the blessing of the new university multi-purpose covered court, a motorcade blared around the city about the event, and closed last night with an exhilarating grand fellowship with barbeque party, firework, and flying of sky lanterns. It was indeed a homecoming that rekindled yesterday’s memories which united the love of the alumni to the university that molded them.

Today will be the alumni business meeting and testimonial dinner at Palmeras.
