Before 2012 ended, the Department of Education (DepEd)-Zamboanga City under Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) Pedro Melchor M. Natividad inaugurated its Training Center and Multi-Purpose Building located inside Zamboanga East Central School in Tomas Claudio St., Zamboanga City last December 22.

They also coincided it with their fun-filled Christmas party and exemplary Year End Performance Appraisal (YEPA) report on the same date. It was a significant three-in-one affair worthy of emulation for other government agencies. The commendable event helped saved government resources at the same time brought forth a worthy government project to realization. It’s a 2-story edifice that will not be exclusively only for public school teachers and students but it will also open its facilities to the general public, according to SDS Natividad, at an affordable rate. The training hall can accommodate between up to 300 to 400 people, he said. It can be used as a venue for training, meetings, and seminars.

In addition, the center will house DepEd E-skwela (computer class) for out of school youth and for out of school adult who are cut out for information technology. So if you know people, young and old, who are interested to learn how to use computer but could not afford to pay tuition fees being charged by private institution, they can go to DepEd local office and avail this free learning program.

Soon, the center will also have sleeping quarters/dormitory for out of town government personnel who can stay there and save government funds. To add income and for its maintenance, it is also open to transients on the budget.
