Allow me to greet all Chinese as well everybody a happy and a prosperous Happy Chinese New Year, the Year of the Water Snake. Known also as the Spring Festival or Chinese Lunar New Year, this is the largest and most important annual festival celebrated by Chinese and Chinese descendants around the world. It is based on the lunar Chinese calendar which begins on first day of the first month in the Chinese calendar and ends with Lantern Festival which is on the 15th day of the first month.

It will be celebrated today, February 10, and festivity will last for 15 days which means till on February 24. In Chinese dominated countries, it is a public holiday and is among the longest public holidays in China. Our Chinese friends will have a feast and will perform rituals in relation of celebrating this festival.

For whatever are the religious, beliefs, or cultural background in celebrating New Year celebrations around the world, I just love New Year. It gives people to celebrate a new life and to look forward for a better life. It gives hope. It is the right time also to thank for the blessings received in the past year and a reason to praise for another wonderful year.

Here are some of my Chinese friends in the Facebook whom I randomly have to rapidly choose before another power failure will hinder me from emailing my article for today.
