Do you know how to do business online? I don’t. Have I tried On-line Shopping? Not yet but tempting. Had I made electronic payments? My wife did.  Online Auction? My friend said he was able to buy and dispose things he does not need in the internet. Internet banking? My bank account is not big enough to warrant this, hehehe. Online ticketing? Yes, I purchased tickets in the internet.

The transactions I mentioned above are the newest business dealings termed E-Commerce which is short for “Electronic Commerce”. It involves buying and selling online or in the internet. For low techie guys like, it seems to be “risky”. I am simply apprehensive because honestly I don’t know about it. But I am interested to learn about E-Commerce because this is one potential area to expand one's business.

Lately I have been discussing with my business clients as a business consultant that we must learn more about E-COMMERCE. Putting up a website is easy. Just have someone do it for you but it does not guarantee it will increase business. Learning how to do business with it is the answer.

And I am glad that STI-College Zamboanga City is coordinating with Digital Filipino for an event, “Digital Filipino E-Commerce Face-To-Face Bootcamp,” on March 16, 2013 at STI Campus in Gov. Lim Avenue. It is specifically target for those who want to know how to do business in the internet. Digital Filipino (DF) is doing this nationwide advocacy campaign to guide Filipinos how to become successful e-commerce entrepreneurs. DF founder Janette Toral will personally teach the participants how to go about it and address doubts or apprehensions about E-Commerce.She will share how to put up and maximize websites, market one’s products and services, accept payment online, and create loyal customers. The first run will have an interactive webinar lectures and consultation sessions. It will be followed with online lesson programs for free.

Toral is a competent e-commerce practitioner since 1997. She authored and published e-commerce books on print and online. She has written as of last count 194 posts on DigitalFilipino: E-Commerce, Social Media, Digital Marketing, and Technopreneurship Guide to the eFilipino.

This event is open to all students, professionals, employed individuals, entrepreneurs, and local companies who want to learn the advantages and disadvantages of E-Commerce. Advance registration is recommended.

Ecclesiastes 11:1-3. “Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days. Give a portion to seven, or even to eight, for you know not what disaster may happen on earth. If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves on the earth, and if a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where the tree falls, there it will lie”. Take a risk.
