Thanks to international acclaimed artist Rameer Tawasil, an appeal to find a peaceful solution  to the on-going conflict at Sabah, Malaysia was held last March 14, 2013. A native of Jolo, Sulu, Rameer has been advocating peaceful means for Mindanao thru his art.

“Chalk Drawings on Public Street,” an art event, was conducted at Normal Street near Western Mindanao State University in coordination with Mindanao Artists Association of the Philippines, Muslim Youth Movement for Peace and Development, Center for Peace and Development of the Western Mindanao State University, Youth Solidarity for Peace, and Colores de Paz.

Participants were given the chance to express peace by painting the street and walls with colorful chalks. Painting is one way to achieve calmness and to de-stress. The occasion called on the Filipino people as well as the Malaysians especially the leaders of both countries to stay calm and to relax so they can assess the situation better.

It was covered by ABS-CBN, Business World, Philippine Information Agency, Zamboanga Today, and Zamboanga Times.
