Two more weekends this June, 8 and 15, our country may break the world record of having the longest peace mural painting in the world. Project EDSA: Journey of Peace in EDSA along the long stretch of EDSA in Metro Manila is calling all Filipinos to join a joint effort to paint the walls along this highway and send a subtle message of peace.

Initiated by mural painter AG Saño and with the help of Bai Rohaniza Sumndad, the Country Director of Asia America, over a thousand volunteers have been lining up along the walls of EDSA for two weekends already (May 26 and June 1, 2013) and started to hand peace the walls of EDA one brush stroke at a time. The thousands of commuters and people passing along this way will surely be inspired to live a life of peace and help in one way or another achieve world peace when they view it everyday.

How about you? If you happen to be in Manila on June 8 and 15, join and register at iVolunteer website account at  You can also register as a group of ten members by emailing at

If you like to volunteer in a different capacity, say, as a photographer, videographer, writer/documentor, please send an email for proper coordination. They advise to bring 1 piece 2 inches brush; used PET bottles cut into half / plastic cups ( for the paints); hygiene kit ( sunblock, alcohol, wipes etc.) ; water bottle (water refilling stations will be provided in the area); snacks and packed lunch to share; hat/cap/umbrella/face mask and extra clothes, and in the spirit of bayanihan, please bring an extra latex paint (any color).

All successful and official registration will receive a confirmation email, and are advised not to bring bulky bags containing valuables.  And at the beginning of the day, each volunteer will be assigned his or her own wall space to paint on. If they finish early they have the option to leave. However, if they are of generous heart, they may opt to stay and help out other volunteers who have not finished their own part of the walls.

You can also contact Ms. Frances Carreon at 09274820815 for confirmation of your attendance.
