Kabang, a female mongrel dog who lost her upper snout as she saved two girls from being over run by a motorcycle 2 years ago, arrived last Sunday night at Zamboanga City with a hero’s welcome. She was even given a motorcade around the city yesterday with Zamboanga City Mayor Celso Lobregat declaring Kabang as the Ambassador of Dogwill during the flag ceremony at City Hall.

The “heroic act” and the deformed face of Kabang spread in the internet and reached dog-lover American Karen Kenngott who was able to raised $27,000 support from donors of 47 countries  A veterinary team at the University of California in Davis, California was able to fix the face of Kabang and stop infections. Though her upper snout could not be restored, Kabang also survived a cancerous tumor and deadly dog's heartworm. PAL offered free transport of Kabang to and fro to the USA including the local flight from Manila to Zamboanga City.

Civic leader and Zamboanga’s foremost veterinarian Dr. Anton Lim with Dr. another veterinarian Dr. Ed Unson accompanied and monitored the health progress of  Kabang. At this point, Kabang is set to be returned to her owner Rudy Bunggal. Dr. Lim said Kabang’s heroism  has inspired people to be caring and to be more responsible pet owners.
