A cellphone for most of us Filipinos has become an essential gadget of our lives. We can’t leave home and ehem, “can’t live”, without it or we go crazy. We love to connect everyday with our loved ones, friends, co-workers (ok not so much with our boss), business associates, etc. And it’s even acceptable to ask, “What’s your cellphone number?” after getting to know somebody new.

As a matter of fact, our country (if I am not mistaken) has been labeled as the text capital of the world. We are just plain passionate (ok, “crazy”) with our cellphones. And when we want to buy a new one, we get “crazier” with all the new features and varied prices of cellphones in the market today. There are just too many brands and models to choose from.

I am glad that I was able to Pep Talk interview Expression Mobile Center (EMC) General Manager John Tan about this in line with EMC’s 10th anniversary this month. He said our final choice of cellphone must fit our lifestyle, preferences, and of course, our budget. From a simple text and call, we can now take picture, video, internet and play games in cellphones, John said. Prices generally depend on its features, the manufacturer, where they come from, durability, promotions, and endorsers, he further added.

When EMC opened a decade ago, John proudly shared; it aimed to provide complete line of reputable brands and models at affordable prices. Ten years after, he beamed; EMC has reached this stage and is now offering essential accessories and repair services for the convenience of their customers.

John also enthused that buyers need not go to Manila, abroad, or other places to buy cellphones because EMC can offer it at the same price or even lower. He divulged that EMC purchases cellphones directly from manufacturers or authorized Philippine dealers at special rates which it passes as big savings to their buyers. In case, he said, the unit model is not available at EMC, he can order it for serious buyers.

John absolutely guarantees that all cellphones at EMC are brand new and not reconditioned. One can detect if a cellphone has been used or reconditioned by browsing in the cellphone menu, he said. This can be one of the reasons, he lamented, why the same brand at EMC is offered at a lower price in other stores which might not be brand new or worse, it could be fake.  EMC has never sold any reconditioned, second hand, or fake brands, EMC assured this or your money back.

EMC principle to sell only genuine products is recognized by major cellphone brands.  Nokia, Samsung, Cherry Mobile, LG, Torque, Alcatel, Star Mobile, Lenovo, My Phone, and new reliable brand Gionee among others have awarded EMC as the most outstanding and elite seller, the best merchandiser, and for achieving the highest sales in terms of volumes and peso sales these past years in this part of Mindanao.

If the cellphone bought at EMC has a factory defect and has not been misused, it can be replaced with a new unit according to EMC Store Supervisor Jane Tan. Other local stores have no warranty or only offer short term of one day, 7-day, or 3 months warranty service. At EMC, Jane added, it offers a free one-year service repair warranty.

To distinguish itself from other cellphone stores, EMC is the only one with a comfortable EMC Customer Area in its wide, air-conditioned, dust-free, and comfy store area. I learned that trained EMC technical executives entertain all customers’ pertinent even crazy questions about cellphones. This way, EMC customers get their money worth and will come back again because of satisfaction.

Now this is the crazy thing EMC will do on June 28 to 30, it will offer a crazy anniversary sale that goes as high as 50% off! Now don’t be crazy, be cool and go there these dates to find out what new cellphone suits best your lifestyle and budget.

“If anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.” (2 Timothy 2:5). Honoring the rules of fair play is central to healthy competition. Those who know that life is not found in winning nor lost in losing are in good position to live with the kind of integrity that reflects their confidence in God.
