I was happy and smiling browsing the Facebook account of KrIslam (Kristiyano-Islam) Peace Library yesterday. You can see and read the testimonies of the Kris scholars and the impact it has created in Barangay Manicahan, Zamboanga City.

The simple two story Kris building is giving opportunities to the young people, students, and adults alike to read books, learn how to use computer, play educational games (like chess), and interact with one another regardless one’s cultural background or religion for free. Thanks to all the supporters of Kris who believe that education is one way to achieve peace in Mindanao. Its noble cause has spread even in Metro Manila.

Before June 2013, Manila based Kris Administrator Arizza Nocum and family visited the place to bring more books and school supplies from donors. The Nocum Family founded Kris Peace Library years back to help their fellow Mindanawons have better lives. They transferred to Manila more than a decade ago where Armand Nocum (Arizza’s father became a respected journalism and now a legal PR expert). Armand and his wife, Ann, felt the calling to help and share their blessings and connections with their beloved homeland.

Now if every one of us has the same passion like the Nocum to do something and, instead of complaining and being complacent, we can make Zamboanga City a better and peaceful place for us. How? Share our blessings.

Do visit Kris Peace Library if you happen to pass by Manicahan, be inspired and see how you can do the same in your own community.
