Though they are far from Zamboanga City and now residing working in Metro Manila, the alumni of Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU) there do still get in touch with one another through the ADZU Metro Manila Alumni Association (ADZUMMAA). And they are alarmed with the rising crime rates in our city. Recent crime victim was ADZU alumni Justine Wee (nephew of Fr. Salvador Wee).

Last July 4, the Ateneo de Manila University Student Government (Sanggunian ng mga Mag-Aaral ng Paaralang Loyola ng Ateneo de Manila) sponsored a candle prayer-vigil for the victims of violence in Zamboanga City wearing black as a sign of strong solidarity. They called on the entire Loyola Schools community and prayed for our local government leaders police forces including the Aquino Administration to act, and for the protection of people staying in Zamboanga City.

Thank you to Atenean Zamboagueño Samuel Santos (present Media Director at the Philippine Senate), who shared in his Facebook that among the ADZUMMAA officers who attended were Paul Pe, Edwin Fargas, Nando Roxas, and Vicente Santiago, members Mike Gonzales, Genie Orogo Jr, Lucy Lucas Chavez, and officers of the La Hermandad Zamboagueña Loli Mara, Linda Atayde, and Monsi Guingona David among others.  (Pictures from http://www.ateneo.edu/gallery/sanggunian-prayer-vigil-peace-zamboanga).

As the Muslim world celebrates the Feast of Ramadan starting today, I called on to our local brethren of Islam Faith to include in their prayer and fasting the peace and order for Zamboanga City.
Greetings for a solemn and Holy Ramadan ceremony to all faithful Muslims.
