Zamboanga City’s top 10 bloodiest Barangay Captains

With the theme, “Every Blood Donation is a Gift of Life,” the Zamboanga City Blood Council honored the top 10 Barangay Captains of our city for collecting blood and donating it to the blood bank of our Zamboanga Red Cross.  The award recognizes Barangay Captains who initiated mobile blood donation activity in their respective barangays. The awarding was based who were able to collect the highest number of units of blood (450 ml) from July 2012 to 2013. It gave recognition to the untiring efforts of these local leaders in helping alleviate the plights of their constituents in this area of health.

The recognition award was held in Lantaka Hotel in coordination Rotary Club of Zamboanga City yesterday. Certificate of Appreciations were also given to the Philippine Red Cross Zamboanga City and Zamboanga City Medical Center for their support to our city’s blood programs and projects.

ZCBC is spearheaded by Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar with Zamboanga City Health Officer Dr. Rodel Agbulos as the  Vice-Chairman. The awarding ceremony was coordinated by Christine Lim as the ZCBC Blood Program Coordinator. Mayor Salazar was represented by City Councilor VP Elago.

Leading the awardees is Talisayan Barangay Captain Josephine Pareja now City District-1 Councilor. Her barangay donated 191 units of blood. Barangay  Pasonanca Barangay Captain Efigenio Julian Jr. came close with 189 units. Third place is Baliwasan  Barangay Captain Jaime Cabato. The other barangay awardees are Ayala Barangay Captain Diosteredes Librero, Lapakan Barangay  Captain Celino Santiago, Tetuan (the late)  Barangay Captain  Felipe Natividad, Boalan  Barangay  Captain Benjamin Limen, Zambowood Barangay Captain Rommel Bacaog, Cawit Barangay Captain Rey Modillas, and Vitali Barangay Captain Jose Alavar.

The certificate of recognitions were handed by ZCBC Coordinator Christine Lim and Regional Blood Program Coordinator Claire Jose together with RCZC President Ronald Rellosa and City Councilor VP Elago who represented Mayor Salazar.
