If you want to get healthy, have fun and, at the same time, help build better education for our nation, join the countrywide EDSA Run on February 27. This is in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the People Power Revolution.

“A new form of people power” was how Cory Aquino Foundation (NCAF) President Rafael Lopa described this 2011 Edsa Run by saying that people need to start figuring out what can be done to solve the pressing problems of the country.  He added that they have partnered with the IamNinoyIamCory Runners Group to support the Department of Education after they learned of the shortage of classrooms in public schools all over the country.

It is a benefit run aimed to bring together runners coming from all walks of life, the same way people banded together for the first Edsa Revolution 24 years ago. It will rekindle People Power “Magka-isa” or Unity, but this time, for a good cause by pooling together resources to build around 152,800 classrooms in public schools.

Though DepEd has around P207.3-billion budget this year, it is still not sufficient according to DepEd Secretary Armin A. Luistro. He said only 11,000 classrooms will be built this year.

In Metro Manila, the runners will converge near the People Power Monument at the corner of Edsa and White Plains Avenue. Ten other cities and provinces shall likewise be mounting simultaneous running events from 5:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. on the same day. They are Vigan, Ilocos Sur; Clark, Pampanga; Zambales; Legazpi, Albay; Cebu City; Davao City; Sultan Kudarat; Dipolog City; Zamboanga Sibugay; and Zamboanga City.

The ZAMBOANGA RUN is organized by the People Power Volunteer Center - Zamboanga, Zamboanga Runner's Club and the City Government of Zamboanga.

Registration forms are now available at Cong. Beng Climaco-Salazar Office, Chinitos Restaurants, Tambayan, and Waltac Veterinary Clinic.

The distance run will be 2.5k and 5k with corresponding fee of PhP50 and PhP20.00 (students). Starting point is Joaquin Enriquez Stadium (Grandstand). The First 2000 registrants will get the Exclusive Zambo commemorative headband and the first 1000 finishers will get limited edition of the Zambo Run Baller ID.  The Zamboanga Run Dr-Fit T-shirt is only Ph 300 on limited supply.
