As we celebrated the death anniversary of the late Ninoy Aquino yesterday, I am giving a post-tribute to the volunteers of Tzu Chi Foundation as our modern heroes, and hope it will inspire Pep Talk readers to do the same like what Ninoy did. Despite they are busy with their respective careers, Tzu Chi volunteers go out and serve humanity at their own financial expenses. Recently, the group conducted a medical surgical mission at Zamboanga Norte Medical Center in Dipolog City. The group didn't only brought medical specialists, they brought medicines and modern medical equipment coupled with Tzu brand of TLC (tender loving care).  The recipients or surgical patients felt Tzu Chi's sincerity and genuineness which are the traits we should all possess in helping people.

The mission of Tzu Chi Foundation is to focus on giving material aid and inspiring love and humanity for both the givers and receivers worldwide. Since its founding, Tzu Chi has dedicated itself in the field of charity, medicine, education, environmental protection, as well as the promotion of humanistic values and community volunteerism. The humanitarian work is both a means to help those in need, and also a way to open the eyes of the volunteer to the harsher side of life, so that through giving, they may find spiritual happiness and life's true meaning.

Tzu Chi Mindanao is base in Zamboanga City and has reached as far as Cagayan de Oro City and Davao City when typhoons wrecked havoc there. This demonstrates that Tzu Chi overcomes obstacles of time, distance, culture and politics differences, to provide relief and hope to victims of war, flood, and drought.

Founded in 1966 by Dharma Master Cheng Yen, she firmly believes that suffering in this world is caused by material deprivation and spiritual poverty. She felt that "lack of love for others" has been the root of many problems in this world. "To save the world, we must begin by transforming human hearts."
