Multi-awardee visual artist and singer-composer Jana Jumalon-Alano will be one of the women artists in the upcoming art exhibit in Cebu City’s Qube Gallery from September 14 to 30, 2103. Entitled, “Mientras Tantos,” it will showcase art works of Jana together with Dumaguete based women artists like Anna Koosman,Babbu Wenceslao, Hersley Ven Casero, Raz Salvarita, Xvete Abanto, and Yvete Malahay-Kim. Jana moved with her husband, Mike Alano, to Dumaguete City years back and has established herself as an artist par excellence there.

Though Jana is the daughter of famous artist couple, Edwin and Lorna Fernandez-Jumalon, she made a mark of her own. Jana is very expressive in her art works and has composed original Filipino songs that Zamboanga City can be proud of. Her paintings can be found in the homes and offices of art collectors nationwide. She has exhibited her master pieces in Cagayan de Oro, Dipolog, Davao, Bacolod, Metro Manila, and as far as Baguio City. She is passionate in terra cotta sculpture nowadays and continues to performed as a singer whenever there is an invitation to perform on stage.

Jana has brought honor and pride to our city. She is constantly inspired with this, “Art is a constant search for that faint line that connects myself to true meaning.”
