The first edition of the Voice of the Philippines is getting exciting for Zamboanga City now that its bet, Paolo Onesa, is still in the race. Last September 1, in the second battle round within Team Bamboo, Paolo was chosen by the voting public with 46.37% text votes. This proves people agree with Bamboo when he picked Paolo in his team and believes that Paolo has the chance to be the first Philippines Voice Grand Winner.

The 19-year-old heartthrob to be charmed TV viewers with his good looks and soulful rendition of James Morrison’s “You Give Me Something.” Coach Lea Salonga was all praises bout his performance and his coach, Bamboo Mañalac, described him as a crooner. “Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, ‘yan ang genre mo,” Bamboo said. “At ang ganda na ‘yun ang nahanap mo sa sarili mo dito sa show na ‘to, e… This is where you belong, that’s the sound you belong to. This is the best I have heard you sing that particular song.”

The Voice is now the biggest and most exciting talent search in our country.  This contest is the most non-discriminatory reality talent search that started in Holland and had spread to more than 40 countries to date. Issues like gender, age, economic status or life story do not contribute to how artists are recruited to each team, rather, their voice and their performance will matter. Thus, the Philippines show’s slogan is “Pangarap ang Puhunan, Boses ang Labanan”.

The first sets of finalists were selected by world-class Filipino performers; Rock Superstar- Bamboo, The Broadway Diva- Leah Salonga, Popstar Princess- Sarah Geronimo, and the International Hiphop Sensation Black Eyed Peas'- APL DE AP.

Bamboo in an interview with ANC’s “Headstart” reiterated that he is “a coach first before a judge.” He said he is looking for the voice, someone with a versatile voice whom he can train. “I think it’s easier to teach than to correct, that’s my thing,” Bamboo explained. He believes that Paolo Onesa has the tone, the richness of the voice, the honey, and the glint in the eye.

8 Voice finalists will again battle tonight over ABS-CBN. But this time, aside from the text votes, the judge’s decision will be combined with the text votes. This means, the chosen one will be advanced because of the text votes and the judge’s choice. Watch The Voice and make Paolo as the first grand winner with your text votes.
