One with Sulu is the story of how our neighbor, a conflict-torn province, will bounce back with education. Last Nov. 6 to 10, the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF) advocacy program, Ten Moves “Bayanihang Pampaaralan,” coordinated with different Sulu local government units, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Department of Education, and business sectors, and held an exhibit named, “One With Sulu,” at Greenbelt 3, Makati City.

It brought glimpses of life in Sulu and encourages the viewers to support the education of Sulu children by helping build classrooms.  Funds and pledges were raised with presentations of Sulu culture and traditions through food, native products, paintings, dance and music of the Tausug people.

The organizers believe that education is one way to achieve peace in this Southern part of Mindanao. The event aims to provide the future generations of this conflict-torn province with a better education and a brighter future for the Tausug children.

Ten Moves is promoting education by building classrooms nationwide with a donation pledge of Ten Pesos from donors. The group computed that if donor pledge contributes P10 per day for 10 months (P10 x 30 days x 10 months) it would be equivalent to P3,000. If multiplied by 1 million donations, the total could reach P3 billion, which should be enough to build 10,000 classrooms.
