Thank you to my friend, John Chua (a well-known and respected commercial ads photographer in our country), who shares updates and real situation in Tacloban City in his Facebook account. Chua gets the privilege to ride military planes and helicopters to document situations with his Canon camera.

Here are the pictures of Tacloban Airport taken by Chua. See how desperate the people are in leaving their city and stay with their relatives in Manila. Others with no relatives will just take the chance. With no homes, food supply, water, electricity and jobs plus reported criminals who escaped from prisons, it is understandable why they want out.

Chua suggested, “I think the Authorities need to improve the situation at the airport. The people are just waiting under the heat of the sun... Some of them have been there for days, fearing to lose their turn to board the plane. Why can't they fix the terminal behind and let them wait inside... give them queuing number.”

Here’s the better news from Chua. “US Forces and our government agencies have established orders in bringing the relief goods to the people in Tacloban and the areas around Leyte and Samar. The roads from Manila to Samar and Leyte are open and safe according to the news with military post in every major towns in Samar and Leyte.”

He pleaded that donors to please consider areas that needs help and attention too like  Northern Cebu, Panay Island, Coron, Busuanga, and Mindoro among others. These places are also severely damaged and needed assistance likewise.  I have also pictures here taken by volunteers of Tzu Chi Foundation who went there to extend help.
