Congratulations to my mentor and friend, inspirational speaker and book author Francis Kong, whose Philippine Star column Business Matters, was honored and named Best Business Column by the Catholic Media Award (CMMA). The 35th awarding ceremony was held last November 15, 2013 at the GSIS Theater in Pasay City. Francis’ well-read column has been awarded the same accolade in 2010 and 2011, making this his third time to be given the same award.

CMMA annually recognizes outstanding works in the field of print, radio, film, and television. This is the third award of Francis. Established in 1978, the CMMA aims to instill a sense of responsibility among communicators. This award-giving body pays tribute to “media products that enhance the human development of the Filipino audience through competent and professional use of media techniques.”

Francis has been to our city for several times. And in due time, he might come back again to do his leadership and value formation seminars here. Francis take on why reading is important. He shared that “Charlie "Tremendous Jones" says 5 years from now, you will exactly be the same person you are today except for two things: the books you read and the people you meet. Charlie actually pays his kids money in order to read books and to make a report afterwards."
“I didn't. I simply encouraged them during their growing up years. Today, all my kids love to read good books (not those about vampires or magicians) and they have good friends. I see them on the right track and with God's grace moving towards sustainable success, “ he added.
About crisis in our lives. Francis wisdom is this “I have been through many crises before and this is what I have learned. Getting through a difficult situation is never easy and is rarely fast. In most cases it is difficult and takes time. But God is in control.”
