As he turned a year older yesterday, Zamboanga civic leader, multi-awarded, and well-loved veterinarian Dr. Anton Lim birthday wish is for people to support and donate to the newest humanitarian project of  the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation (YBFH) – the  ADOPT-A-FISHERMEN. This program is aiming to build or donate boats for fishermen in Tacloban City. Typhoon Yolanda’s storm surge destroyed all fishing boats there, hence, affected the fisher folk’s livelihood. They can’t just wait always for food donation to support their families.

YBHF was co-founded by Dr. Lim together with Jay Jaboneta as the chief builder/founder. The foundation has received international and local recognitions for not only providing boats to communities near rivers or seas, it extended assistances like free medical and dental services, educational scholarships and supplies, slippers and bags, food for calamities, and sustainable livelihood programs. YBHF is “sailing” (going) nationwide to give hope symbolized by the sunshine color of yellow .

Dr. Lim just flew in from Taipei three weeks ago where he learned how to build shelters for the evacuees at Zamboanga Grandstand. Upon arrival, he went to Tacloban City and to Tarlac for YBFH projects.

At Labney, Tarlac, in coordination with Mon Corpuz of Tarlac Funds for Little Kids and Rustico Corpuz of Black Pencil Project, they donated yellow colored boats, bags from Bags493 of Josh Mahinay and Mayette Alita, and slippers from Banana Peel Flip Flops. Next in line for this community near a riverbank, are classrooms to be build in partnership of Klasrums ng Pag-Asa and Ten Moves.

Next month, Dr. Lim will again spearhead the much-awaited Tzu Chi Christmas Bazaar, the biggest galore of the season in Western Mindanao.
