More than raising funds to help Zamboanga City recover, the fun run “Bangon Zamboanga” last November 30, 2013 at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) ground was a show of unity and care. Thanks to the organizers, Manila people from different walks of life joined and demonstrated that they are concern with what’s happening in our city.

Organized by the AB Dynamic Group Organization Company and Kutamora Media, the Philippine National Police thru the Police Community Relations Group (PCRG) and the Metro-Manila Muslim Community for Justice and Peace (MMMCJP) joined by the the Imam Council of the Philippines and the Federation of Filipino-Muslim Traders Association gave full support to this the run-for-a-cause.

MMMCJP chairman Datu Basher Alonto said in an interview, “It’s been more than two months after the armed conflict has ended but people of Zamboanga have yet to fully recover from the incident. A number of them have yet to find a place to stay after their houses were burned down that is why we are doing our share to help them.”

Action star and producer Ronnie Ricketts presence gave an inspiration to the participants. Ricketts, who is the current Chairman of the Optical Media Board (OMB) of the Philippines, actively promoted this event. PCRG was represented by Police Senior Superintendents Carlito Feliciano and Ma. Asuncioin Placino whose group has been joining projects with MMMCFP. The official Race Director was Coach (ret) 2nd Lt. Rey “Old Warrior” Antoque – Legendary Hero of Philippine Marathon. Thanks also to ABS-CBN Reporter-Zamboangueña Leila Dagalea Vicente for sharing pictures of this event.
